Mrs.
Marcia Mullins Shortt is a product of the Wise
County School Division. Mrs. Shortt graduated
from Pound High School as Valedictorian of the
1982 senior class. She attended Clinch Valley
College and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Middle School
Education (Grades 4—8) in 1985. She received her
Master of Arts Degree in Administration and
Supervision with an Endorsement in Instructional
Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University in
1997. Mrs. Shortt began her professional career
in 1985 as a middle school math teacher at Pound
High School. She taught 13 years before being
hired in 1998 as Assistant Principal of J. W.
Adams Combined School in Pound. After serving 4
years as Assistant Principal, she became
principal of J. W. Adams Combined and served in
that capacity for 4 years also. In 2006, Mrs.
Shortt was named principal of Pound High School.
After 5 years as principal at Pound High School,
Mrs. Shortt assumed the position of Director of
Elementary and Middle School Education.
